Patrick Taylor
– ‘the Texas Yeti’ –
I am an author, adventurer, & world traveler. My real-life adventure novels are based on personal experiences: I imagine & embark on unusual adventures… & then write books about them. I share my stories to inspire readers to embrace adventure in THEIR lives.
I believe we all need a little something we can call ‘adventure’. It gives us purpose beyond the day-to-day requirements of living. The simple act of daydreaming about potential adventures is invigorating & our lives are a little more exciting as soon as we start planning. Even before the adventure begins, every day has more meaning. That’s why I’m always thinking of something new to do; that spark gives me energy & contributes to the happiness I share with others.
And I’ve experimented with pretty much every kind of adventure:
Travel Adventure

As a young man, I thought about, dreamed about, made plans to explore the world & discover its best-kept secrets. By my 30th birthday, I was an American expat with a passport thick as a phone book. This chapter in my life was the off-ramp to a ‘road less traveled’… exactly as I had imagined.
- International Well Logging Engineer
- International Business Development Manager
Business Adventure

As a family man, I became a successful entrepreneur & small-business champion, as well as a published author & featured speaker for Microsoft & Intel. More importantly, I built a business on principles & established an honorable reputation. Exciting results for a self-funded start-up… another dream realized.
- President & Co-Founder – Proactive Technologies
- President – Intel Board of Advisors
Outdoor Adventure

In my 50s, I battled armies of unexpected change. In fact, I lost just about everything… except my outlook on life. It took time, but I began a new chapter & acted on a long-repressed desire to be a real mountain man. An unlikely adventure for a gray-haired business man, but I was able to make it happen.
- Traversed the Rockies alone on foot retracing Lewis & Clark’s historic crossing.
- Wintered alone in the Frank Church Wilderness.
Adventure in Love

In retirement, I relocated to Poland to begin a new adventure. I fell in love with a Texas Yeti fan (can you imagine?), but COVID & closed borders kept us separated for a year. Undeterred, we moved forward with our dream. Now Ela & I are building a new life together in a little town in Lower Silesia called Strzelin.
- It’s never too late for adventure.
- It’s never too late to live the life you imagine.
Adventure is a catalyst for happiness in my life. That happiness is good energy that I share with other people & it makes them happy, too. I give my happiness, my enthusiasm, my good energy to everyone that will take it. I am happy to share it with you.
